Following its 2025 re-entry to the US, Polymarket trades under the CFTC-registered QCX venue for American users, and continues to operate globally under its established DeFi settlement layer. Funds are held in your own wallet or in the exchange's segregated smart contracts rather than in a broker's balance sheet, which removes traditional counterparty risk but adds smart-contract and self-custody risk. There has been no material security incident since launch in 2020.

Polymarket is accessible to most European users through its global web app. The UK is currently restricted, and a handful of other jurisdictions require KYC or block access. EU traders typically fund via crypto wallet or card and withdraw USDC to a personal wallet or exchange for fiat off-ramping. Always check your local rules before trading.

Against Kalshi, Polymarket wins on fees, liquidity and market variety but loses on US regulatory clarity for retail. Against Manifold or Metaculus, Polymarket is the only one of the four with real cash markets at scale.
